ISYS Search Software Used by Salt Lake City Detectives in Elizabeth Smart Kidnapping Investigation
Posted on: 09/16/

DENVER -- ISYS/Odyssey Development Inc., a global supplier of search software for businesses and government, has announced that Salt Lake City Police Crime Analysts used ISYS' sixth-generation search technology while investigating the kidnapping of Elizabeth Smart.

As the case is still ongoing, details concerning the specific use of ISYS are not being released at this time; however, Salt Lake's Crime Analysis Unit has confirmed the use of ISYS search software and its ability to assist agents in fielding new case leads.

"Over the course of the investigation we've been dealing with thousands of leads," said analyst Peggy Call of the Salt Lake City Police Department. "ISYS has played a valuable role in facilitating timely research."

ISYS search solutions have been deployed by law enforcement agencies worldwide. Most recently, Seattle Police Department's Criminal Intelligence section began using ISYS to search case files, act on new intelligence as it becomes available, and share information across the department.

"It goes without saying that technology, no matter how advanced, is secondary to the hard work put forth by Utah law enforcement officials and the greater Salt Lake City community," said Ian Davies, founder and managing director of ISYS. "We're pleased to have played a role in such an important case."
