Los Angeles-Area Law Enforcement, Healthcare Pros and Victim Advocates Come Together to Help Defeat Domestic Violence
Posted on: 10/14/

LOS ANGELES -- Local law enforcement and healthcare professionals will participate in a unique training series -- sponsored by Polaroid, the Los Angeles Commission on Assault Against Women, and the Statewide California Coalition for Battered Women and Imageologists/ International Supplies -- to learn the latest trends and techniques in using photography to document violence cases.

Led by industry experts from California, attendees will learn the evolution of domestic violence and how to effectively respond and document domestic violence within the disabled population as part of the collective agencies' efforts to better respond to domestic violence cases in the Los Angeles area, as well as the surrounding communities.

This training workshop, to be held on Oct. 15, is part of the "No More Tour," a nationwide bus tour, film festival and seminar series sponsored by Liz Claiborne, Marie Claire and Polaroid designed to raise awareness of the battle against domestic violence.

The event will be held at California Hospital Medical Center, Keck Hall, S. Grand Avenue in Los Angeles. For more information, call .

For many years, Polaroid has strived to educate first responders on the power that an instant photograph can have in a woman's fight against domestic violence. Instant pictures are critical and can provide legal testimony while protecting the victim's privacy. Polaroid instant cameras have been part of the fight against domestic violence for a number of years, and are used by healthcare, prosecutorial and law enforcement professionals across the country to help document injuries and ultimately, to prosecute the perpetrators of these crimes. Polaroid strives to educate these professionals that to take the picture is to help break the cycle of abuse.
