National Registry Helps Recover Abducted or Runaway Children
Posted on: 05/19/

DURHAM, N.C. -- It's an alarming statistic, but more about 1.5 million children are kidnapped, missing, or lost every year in America.  That's 2,000 kids every day.  Experts place the odds of your child becoming missing at as high in 1 in 42.  According to the

Vanished Children's Alliance, another child goes missing or abducted every

40 seconds.

"Parents must inform their child to empower them against dangers.

Pretending it could never happen to them only puts them at higher risk," says

Brian Kelley, an independent registered agent with Child Shield USA.

Child Shield’s mission is two-fold.  "Our primary goal is to reduce the

alarming number of lost, missing, abducted and runaway children in America,"

says Kelley.  "Our 'Guide to Safer Children' child safety program provides

parents with simple, easy-to-follow materials that will educate and empower

their children with important knowledge that can help prevent a tragedy."  The

program includes the "Safety Seven" poster and the "Play it Safe" coloring

book for kids.  It also includes an instructional booklet on how to record

identification video tapes for your children, and a guidebook on what to do if

your child is missing.

The second goal of Child Shield USA is to offer parents and law

enforcement agencies a one-stop source for immediate assistance when a child

has become missing.  They aid parents and police in distributing information

that is vital to the child recovery effort.  Parents can also register their

children with Child Shield USA, so the information is immediately accessible

and ready for distribution at a moment's notice.

If a Child Shield USA registered child should ever become missing, the

organization is prepared to immediately provide both local and far-reaching

assistance to the child's family and to the police agency handling the

investigation.  Child Shield USA is represented nationally by a growing team

of independent Registered Agents.
