Argosy University Launches New Master's Degree in Forensic Psychology; Program Explores Variety of Issues in Psychological Profiling, Criminal Behavior, and Victim Psychology
Posted on: 07/15/

POINT RICHMOND, Calif. -- Argosy University announces it is now enrolling for its new master of arts degree program in forensic psychology for classes starting this fall.

The program is designed for those interested in working in, or training

for, the forensic psychology field, and provides course work in the

theoretical and practical elements of forensic psychology for application to

law enforcement, legal and organizational consultation, and program analysis.

The program is comprised of 36 semester units and may be completed in one

year. It uniquely combines distance learning with a choice of weekend or

daytime class formats. The weekend delivery format gives students the option

of maintaining their work and other commitments during the week while pursuing

their educational goals. The school's small class sizes also enable students

to interact closely with faculty.

"Our school's faculty members bring real-world experience from working in

the fields of criminal justice and forensic psychology," said Lou Rappaport,

PhD, department head of master's and doctoral programs in counseling

psychology at Argosy University/San Francisco Bay Area. "They represent

expertise in all major forensic psychology areas and expose students to a

variety of theoretical orientations and applications."

Courses in the program include Maladaptive Behavior and Psychopathology;

Psychology of Criminal Behavior; Psychology of the Victim; Evaluation and

Treatment of Offenders; Issues in Psychological Profiling; Consultation,

Triage and Testimony in Forensic Psychology and other topics common to the

field.

"We're excited to offer this forensic psychology degree in a format that

appeals to working adults and others interested in exploring this particular

field of psychology," said Neil Kobrin, PhD, president of Argosy

University/San Francisco Bay Area. "The blend of theoretical and practical

course work provides a great foundation for those who want to work in the

field."

The school is now accepting applications from those interested in

enrolling in the program for fall semester, which starts Sept. 7, . For more
