HOUSTON, Texas -- Vickie Milazzo, RN, MSN, JD, a leading educator in legal nurse consulting, has been named to Inc’s Top 10 Entrepreneur list.

Milazzo was honored by Inc. along with the Entrepreneur of the Year and nine other national newsmakers. She invented a new nursing profession that turns traditional hospital RNs into entrepreneurs. She started her business from a one-bedroom condo in . Her company’s revenue has tripled over the last five years.

Milazzo was one of thousands of entrepreneurs from all over the U.S. nominated in Inc. magazine’s “Entrepreneur of the Year” competition. Her story and photo, along with space entrepreneur Bill Rutan’s and movie star Mel Gibson’s, can be seen on the Inc. Web site where Milazzo is honored as a top 10 entrepreneur.

Vickie Milazzo Institute, a division of Medical-Legal Consulting Institute, Inc., is a $10 million company that trains RNs as consultants to attorneys on medical-related cases. Milazzo has taught more than 11,000 nurses from all over the nation to be certified legal nurse consultants (CLNC®s) and is recognized within the nursing profession as “the pioneer of legal nurse consulting.” Milazzo recently received NurseWeek magazine’s Nursing Excellence Award for Advancing the Profession.

Inc. posted hundreds of personal testimonies to the magazine’s Web site that were sent in by Milazzo’s CLNC® graduates, staff members and entrepreneurial peers. Inc.com noted that Milazzo’s supporters “loved her.”

“As a nurse for 30 years, I’ve seen a lot,” wrote South Carolina RN Sherryl Scott on the Inc. Web site. “Vickie promotes nursing even more than Florence Nightingale could have dreamed.”

“I love training other RNs to be innovative entrepreneurs,” says Milazzo. “If nurses can save lives in the middle of the night with no doctor in sight, they can also use that drive and decision-making ability to become winning entrepreneurs.”
